The Worst Podcasting Advice I hear Every Single Day!

The single worst and most useless piece of podcasting advice I see thrown around by both 'pros' and other folks online is the following: "don't worry about the gear, or your sound, if you content isn't amazing then the sound won't matter anyway" (or something very similar to this). Sorry, but that's...

Has the Infinite Dial (and/or similar reports) ever actually helped you make your show better?

With all the focus on the recent "Infinite Dial 2019 Report" it got me thinking: Has the Infinite Dial (and/or similar reports) ever actually helped make your show better?

Re: 120 Days with the MixPre-6

Orange means the usb power source is not advertising that it can supply enough power to MixPre. This surprises me if your power bank is usb-c. All reputable usb-c power sources we’ve tried power the MixPre fully. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hi Paul, turned out it wasn't the power brick, it w...

Re: 120 Days with the MixPre-6

Thanks Paul, appreciate you're comments there. I am actually using a USB-C power brick, so I'm running USB-C from the brick to USB-C on the MixPre. What does the orange indicator (as opposed to green) on the MixPre touchscreen signify? I was thinking maybe it meant that the unit has power but it's n...

Re: Gaining Listeners

Hi Daniel, good stuff getting the show launched and out there. Honestly, after 8 years and 800+ episodes of different pods, I don't think Social media is useful with gaining new listeners, as much as it's good for sharing with your existing audience. My goal when launching a new show is always to fo...

Re: 120 Days with the MixPre-6

I'm so very tempted to get this bad boy. The short battery span kind of worries me, but those pros are way too juicy. Are you still using yours, Joshua? If you use NiMH rechargeable AAs or Lithium primary AAs you’ll get good battery time. Standard AA alkalines cannot deliver adequate current for ve...

I still haven't checked it out.
You should def check it out, it's a lot better than I expected. And to say they went Big with the Bad Guys right out of the gate, is an understatement.

120 Days with the MixPre-6

I will keep this short. PROS • The pre-amps really are that-damn-good. It's rare to my untrained ears that I can hear a real difference between pre-amps, but as soon as I plugged my various mics into the MP-6 I noticed the quality instantly. • The analogue limiters are both functional and also have ...

Re: For DBX286s users - what are your settings?

I generally run my dbx with about +45 of gain, compressor drive and density at about 4.5. De esser is of and LF at 7 and hf at 2.5. Expander -30 and 5;1. The Lf and hf vary depending on mic - but those are my baseline settings for my BP40 Thanks Stephen. I think I need to play a little more with th...

Re: Anyone want to co-host a Krypton Podcast?

I'd love to if only there were time. My wife would kill me if I added another regular podcast. I'd be open to guesting though! What a great surprise Krypton was! Much better than I was expecting. Agreed! The overall quality and in particular the pacing of the show were well beyond what I expected. ...
