Re: The Future Of Podcasting

I think it's going to keep cycling myself. In my 10 years I've seen the rise of long podcasts, to the rise of micro casts and now arguably longer podcasts are on the upward trend again. Part of it probably the comfort / exposure of 2x speed (a hour of content in half hour time). I don't personally s...

Re: Catch Up Episode Publishing Schedule

Assuming you are talking about Legends of Shield, knowing what I know about your audience and their vocal drive to have content out right away following the AoS episode (as you've discussed occasionally on BP), I'd probably do what it takes to get caught up asap. You've mentioned before on BP how Lo...

Re: How Do You Record Your Podcast?

I use individual Skype sessions for each participant, routed into Xsplit for video and onto my Zoom L12 for audio. I usually use an Audio Technica BP40 into a dbx286 which then goes into the L12. The L12 records multi track which is where I get my microphone audio as well as the back up tracks if ne...

What industry notable equipment do you personally not care for?

We all have opinions, and those opinions don't always line up. In podcasting we've got some pieces of gear that have become go-to recommendations. Do you disagree with any of these recommendations? If so, what is your reasoning? For example, the Heil PR-40 is a go to for many people. However, in my ...

Re: Video Editing Software for PC

For what it's worth, if you can't get deal on Vegas Pro, Movie Studio that SP said (which is the consumer version of Vegas - listed on the same site), is a very feature rich program. I've been comparing Vegas 14 to Movie Studio, and I don't know that I've used anything new in Vegas in the last month...

Good list - I especially like #1. The concept of thinking a few steps ahead is lost on a lot of people.

If you could give newbie you three tips, what would they be?

Here's the situation, you've just found a time machine. As a podcaster, naturally your first trip is going to be to go back in time and talk to yourself who is JUST starting podcasting. What is the top 3 things you would tell yourself? These are my 3 (keeping in mind I started podcasting in 2008 -- ...

Re: Sharing iTunes Reviews on your podcast, yes or no?

I personally think moderation is the key here - if you EVER mention a review. If you're ever asking for a review (whether in show, in an intro, etc), I think reading them is a good way to share the love and encourage more - subtly. It shows the listeners you read them and appreciate them taking the ...
