Interview challenge 1989'ish addition

A biology professor at the University of Kentucky (my alma mater) agreed to our interview. He doesn't use Skype. He's not on Facebook. He doesn't even own a cell phone. It took us about 30 minutes to be able to pull him into a Zoom meeting on his “office” phone. I get the feeling he was really talki...

Sennheiser MD 46 cardioid interview microphone

I was perfectly happy with my four Shure PGA 48s (34USD) field mics which in my opinion sound exactly like the like the Shure SM 58 (100USD), but Stephen and SP just had to talk about the Sennheiser MD 46 (200USD) on an episode a while back. The MD 46 looks more professional than the PGA 48. It look...

The Sony MDR7506 Professional Large Diaphragm Headphones

These Sony MDR7506s are at the top, or near the top, of everyone's list of studio monitoring headphones. These were my first "high-end" headphones. Before these, I used a set of headphones that came free with the purchase of a shirt from Kohls. Build quality: These aren't built like a tank but If yo...

Re: BSW RE27 Ultimate Pop Filter (Sort Of)

No, I didn't have to send this one back and customer service was very nice. A brand-new one arrived the next day. I agree they're way overpriced. This isn't exactly a mass-produced item but they're probably making 4000% profit. I've never been a big fan of the foam windscreens, they add a little bas...

BSW RE27 Ultimate Pop Filter (Sort Of)

I received this today from BSW. Do you see anything missing from this BSW RE27 Ultimate Pop filter like the POP FILTER? I called BSW customer service today and they told this has happened before. They apologized and assured me that I would receive a new one tomorrow. BTW; they charged me $16 dollars...

Re: Behind The Noise Podcast

Hi Marc. First of all, I really like your artwork. Being a bass player myself I, of course, listened to the episode with Luke Appleton, bass player for Iced Earth. I thought you asked excellent, well thought out questions. Loved the intro/outro music. Excellent audio quality. Nice show notes. I real...

MXL V67G HE Large Capsule Condenser Microphone

I have, at least briefly, crossed over to the dark side and decided to try out a condenser microphone. But why? I get a fair amount of compliments on my RE 20 microphone. I asked podcasters within my niche what sort of microphones they use. A surprisingly large percentage said condenser microphones....

Re: PreSonus StudioLive AR12 USB 14-Channel Mixer

So you can do multi-track recording via StudioLive. I took a brief look into StudioLive when I first got the mixer. It looked pretty complicated compared Audacity but now I may have to take a second look at it. Thanks!
