Re: PreSonus StudioLive AR12 USB 14-Channel Mixer

It's possible I am a bit over my head here. I did a quick experiment. From my computer, I recorded Skype, iTunes, and two YouTube videos. I also recorded eight XLR microphones and my phone over Bluetooth all at the same time. I put it into Audacity and everything got recorded on a single track. I'm ...

Re: AKG K52 Headphones

"How is the sound isolation with them? In a noisy room can you hear what you are monitoring clearly or is it muddled."

I want to say the isolation wasn't great but good enough. Listening to music or podcasts in the gym Isn't a problem. Definitely not muddled.

AKG K52 Headphones

Not all podcasters are audiophiles. I did a very quick unscientific poll of podcasters within my niche. I asked them what headphones they use to monitor their podcast. Almost all of them said something like Apple earbuds or an old cheap set they've had forever. They had the attitude that high-end he...

Re: What is your editing software?

We've used Audacity from the start. It's free and it works. Our show is recorded audio only. We don't do live, video or holograms. YET!

Re: YOUR Gear

The chain: I use the RE 20 with a BSW REPOP pop filter. On the back of the microphone, I have a Triton Audio Fethead Preamp. From there it's the Presonus Studio Channel Tube Preamp which provides a little compression and I have the EQ flat. Next is the dbx 131s graphic equalizer which boosts the tre...

Can't go wrong with the Zoom H6. I just ordered a cool case for it off of Amazon.

Great sounding microphone. I think raw or processed/compression gets the job done really well.

Creating Podcast Fans One at a Time

Our neighbor is retired, in his 70s and a “Master Gardener.” He spends most of his time in his front yard garden tending to exotic flowers and other plants. I mentioned to him that I started a podcast and he said: “what’s a podcast?” I told him it was a radio show that he could listen to anytime he ...

Scientology Episode #11

Our Scientology episode got quite a bit of feedback and downloads. While I'm not a big fan of two-hour podcast episodes if we played all of the listener's stories we received it would've been five hours long. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/11-scientology-jefferson-hawkins-ex-scientologist-autho...
