Recommended Starter Packages

Post by StargatePioneer » Sun Apr 30, 2017 9:12 pm

Imagine that you are just starting your podcast. Maybe it's a solo podcast, maybe you've got a few buddies or experts together to record. You might be in the same room. You might be geographically separated. What gear would you want recommended to you to record your first 10 shows?

In your response specify which option your are fulfilling and what budget you would recommend to stay under.

For multiple people in the same room, I'd consider a simple usb mixer like the Q1202USB (around $100) and the Behringer XM8500 (around $20) or maybe a 3 pack of Xm1800s ($34 for the 3 pack). Those mics are all XLR only, but for a group that's all in person, it shouldn't be a problem. I'd finish it off with a 4 headphone amp/splitter (around $25). People can bring their own headphones.
