Top 3 Favorite Films

Post by BandrewSays » Fri Mar 31, 2017 9:07 pm

Let's get the Off Topic section of the forum rolling. What are you top 3 favorite films and why?

1. Amadeus
2. There Will Be Blood
3. Ex Machina (?)

Number 1 and 2 are consistent on my list, and I love these films because the characters are well developed without being static. You witness a very serious transformation throughout the story, which holds your attention during the ridiculous length of both of these films.

Number 3 on my list always changes, but Ex Machina is what came to mind while making this post. I really enjoy this film because I think it's a masterclass in writing. Just like 12 Angry Men (another one of my favorites), this doesn't have elaborate sets, explosions, or mindless romance. Everything that happens in this film drives the story forward to an amazing finale that leaves you questioning if Sam Harris is correct in his fear of A.I.

I can't wait to see what you all pick!

3) Bi-Centennial Man

With a CLOSE 4th to The Martian.

Top 3 Favourite Films (wow, that's tough) - I'm going to go with pure re-watch value.

• Terminator 2: Judgement Day / The Godfather part II (sorry I can't split them).
• The Shawshank Redemption
• The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

Oh yeah I forgot, the movie I love that actually isn't very good is "Undisputed II: Last Man Standing" (it's just so awesome!)

McClintock is seriously one of my favorites. That and El Dorado. Gotta love The Duke.

Nice List! T2 is a cherished favorite. I have a question for you though. Why The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and not either of the other films in the trilogy?

I do love all 3 LOTR films, but I just find myself enjoying the story arcs specific to the Two Towers the most - in particular the extended ed. of Two Towers, I rewatch it more often than the other two films.
