TV Cancellation/Renewals...

Post by StephenJondrew » Wed May 17, 2017 9:11 am

So what's everyone's favorite renewal? How about saddest cancellation? What is just completely surprising to you?

For me the most surprising has been two-fold - American Idol and Roseanne being picked up by ABC. It's weird to me that they're going down this road right now, and I'm guessing they had to pay a pretty penny for both of them.

I'm a bit bummed that Last Man Standing was cancelled. I thought it was a fun Friday sitcom in my routine and had at least a couple more years in it. They totally gave us material last year too for Better Podcasting, so that's an automatic win in my book hahaha

My wife and I were really bummed out about the CW's cancellation of "Frequency"! It was great, great drama and great sci-fi. The ratings weren't there yet, so it wasn't unexpected. I don't think they promoted it enough and/or right. We're gonna miss it!

As much as she sucks, you can't do Roseanne without the real Roseanne.

Haha it's very true - but I'm just surprised to see them doing these returns. I'm glad to see Agents of SHIELD was renewed, but the way they ended the season would have been a good series finale too - so that'll be hard to top.

This is my type of off-topic question.

Most saddest cancellation is a tie between Firefly (cut short) and Sarah Connor Chronicles (the worst cliff hanger ever).

Fav renewal, was not really a renewal, but it kind of was, the mini-series for Farscape.

**sorry I went with all-time, and you probs meant current shows** ;)

After Terra Nova was cancelled I decided to leave FOX forever. There's just too much other good TV out there to subject yourself to whims of network execs that have no clue to actually create fanbases and network loyalty.

The Orville has my attention but I highly anticipate it to be cancelled by Christmas because it's .... well on FOX.

Oh man, don't get me started on Terra Nova. Some people argue they needed the dinosaurs but no, no they didn't. They just needed the occasional appearance to help remind us, but they did a good job of building the world so we could care more about the people than dinosaurs. It could have been done so much more affordably. Grumble.

As for The Orville, the only thing that might give them a better chance is they love Seth MacFarlane.

If anyone is willing to wager whether FOC will actually keep this beyond the first season I'm willing to bet that they won't.

Haha, I won't ever bet against FOX cancelling a show. :D
